Rebuilding the Walls of Faith
Here's a short summary of Nehemiah and building faith from Jon Bloom at Desiring God that you might enjoy: What God Is Building Through All the "Inefficiencies" of Life | Desiring God
Return to hearing, understanding and obeying God's Word (Nehemiah 8:1-3, 9)
Despite others attempting to distract (most especially when you sense their motives are questionable), you must stay focused on God's Will for your life. (Nehemiah 6:8-9, 15-16)
Nehemiah served as the leader to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem and did not demand the benefits due him for fulfilling that job. He set an example of how to treat your neighbors. (Nehemiah 5:17-19)
Yes, you WILL suffer discouragement from those around you, particularly when you're doing God Will. But take it to the LORD and He will provide you with encouragement through those that are focused on doing His Will. (Nehemiah 4:1-3, 15)
The wall around Jerusalem wasn't rebuilt with hired, specialized labor but with the individuals willing to be a part of God's mission right where they lived. (Nehemiah 3:1-5)
Nehemiah 2:4-5, 17-18 "Many hands make light work" as we work together to tell others of the Gospel and disciple one another.
Nehemiah 1:8-9 Confronting the brokenness in your own life takes faith in God and His plan for you.
Intro to sermon series; the walls of Jerusalem needed rebuilding as Israelites were allowed to return home after captivity and exile. What do the walls represent for us today?

From Religion to Relationship:
Psalm 119:54-64 Boast in Jesus and His gift of salvation, not in your own works (Galatians 6:14-16) We display our status as a believer BY doing His Will. Good works by themselves will not secure a spot in God's Family of the forgiven. (James 2:14-20; Galatians 5) As Believers, we are no longer under the "master" of sin or the law, but are co-heirs with Jesus of His forgiveness, grace and mercy. (Galatians 4:1-6) As believers in Jesus Christ, each of us is a co-heir with Him to receive all the blessings and gifts from our Heavenly Father. . . not just the promises of His covenant with Israel. (Galatians 3:26-29) Jesus Plus Nothing Equals Faith (Galatians 2:14-21)
1-Gift of Salvation, once accepted, can't be taken away;
2-Only 2 categories: Saved or Not Saved (not Jew or Gentile);
3-We strengthen our faith in Jesus as we gather together. It's Jesus . . . NOT a set of rules to follow. (Galatians 1:6-10) Often time we don't recognize our need for a Savior until we've been broken. Once broken, and accepting of His salvation, we become blessings to others. (Jonah 3:1-10)
And here's Pastor Scott's very first message to us (Aug 13, 2023):
As Christians, we are to become a mentor for others as well as continue to be mentored ourselves. Lean into relationships that matter. (Matthew 6:33)
